BA- LL.B. (Hons.)/ BBA- LL.B. (Hons.) in GGSIPU

BA-LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B. (Hons.)

For students aiming to combine law with a foundation in the arts or business, the integrated courses BA-LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B. (Hons.) offer a unique path. These programs enable students to gain both a law degree and specialized knowledge in arts or business administration, opening versatile career options in legal practice, corporate law, policy-making, business consulting, and more.

What are BA-LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B. (Hons.)?

Both BA-LL.B. (Hons.) and BBA-LL.B. (Hons.) are integrated, five-year law programs combining an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Business Administration) with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree. Here’s how they differ:

BA-LL.B. (Hons.): Focuses on law with a foundation in humanities subjects like sociology, political science, history, and economics.
BBA-LL.B. (Hons.): Blends law with business administration topics like management, finance, marketing, and human resources.

These programs allow students to build a legal career while also gaining valuable knowledge in either the arts or business, making them more attractive to diverse legal and corporate sectors.

Admission Process

For admission into BA-LL.B. and BBA-LL.B. programs at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), the selection process prioritizes CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) scores first, followed by CUET (Common University Entrance Test) scores. This preference structure allows students with a dedicated focus on law to be given first consideration, while also providing an alternative for those who have appeared for CUET.

Admission Process through CLAT

For applicants targeting GGSIPU’s law programs, CLAT holds the primary importance. As a nationally recognized entrance exam for law, CLAT is considered the top benchmark for admission to BA-LL.B. and BBA-LL.B. programs at GGSIPU.

Eligibility: Students must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% marks.

CLAT Format: Consists of sections on English, logical reasoning, legal aptitude, current affairs, and quantitative techniques.

Priority: Students with a valid CLAT score are placed first in the merit list, and admissions are granted according to these ranks and the number of seats available.

Admission Process through CUET

If seats remain after considering CLAT applicants, CUET scores are then considered. CUET offers an alternative pathway, particularly for students who may be applying to other non-law programs but are interested in pursuing law at GGSIPU.

Eligibility: The same 10+2 requirement applies, with a minimum 50% score.

CUET Format: Covers multiple domains, and candidates can select English, reasoning, and general knowledge sections, which align with law entrance criteria.

Priority: CUET applicants are considered for any seats left vacant after CLAT-based admissions, allowing a wider range of applicants to still enter the program.

This two-tier priority approach by GGSIPU ensures that students with a focused law career ambition via CLAT are given precedence, while also keeping admission accessible to other eligible candidates through CUET if seats are available. This structure caters to the academic and professional goals of a broad student base.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for BA-LL.B. or BBA-LL.B. programs at GGSIPU, students need to meet certain criteria based on their Class 12 (10+2) results.

1. Minimum 50% Marks in Total:
Applicants must have scored at least 50% overall in their Class 12 exams. This percentage includes all subjects combined, not just individual scores. The requirement ensures that students have a good overall academic record, reflecting their readiness for the law program.

2. Passing English:
Students must have taken and passed English as a subject in Class 12. This can be either Core, Elective, or Functional English. The English requirement is important because studying law requires strong skills in reading, comprehension, and effective communication.
